@TheUsualSuspekt Absolutely, in the 90s I just wanted to get my hands on games from the things I loved at the time, Spiderman, Simpsons, WWF etc. None of the games in this video are amazing but they all captured that Simpsons charm in their own ways...
April 19, 1987 was the first time anybody got to see the Simpsons on TV? It was a short clip on the Tracy Allman show. It went on to do regular clips then got its own TV show in 1989.
Barts Nightmare is a goody if you find the homework pages.. you choose out of 2 coloured doors and a different game for each occurs.. Orange door was Indiana Jones inspired, Green door was Bart as Godzilla which is where Homer is King kong lol Yellow door was Itchy and Scratchy. Etc its quite fun tbh
I should definitely have persevered with it or read some tips online, from the comments, I think I have missed out. I'll maybe revisit it in the next few days.
No mention of Bart vs the World on NES? It’s a slightly better version of Bart vs the Space Mutants, though still very difficult. And it comes with a Simpsons trivia game as well.
Yeah, I focussed mainly on the Mega Drive games for this one, but I might do a follow up down the line with the Nintendo games. I like the idea of a Simpsons trivia game, I'd enjoy that!
God I loved bart Vs space mutants and krustys fun house in the early 90s. Some of my earliest memories of gaming. New to your channel. Loving it. Keep the great work coming
Thank you very much, glad you like it. I know what you mean about the games, I can remember playing Space Mutants in the 90s, good memories, but solid game 😂
Great video mate. I had Krusty Funhouse on the Gameboy. It was certainly a fantastic game, albeit very hard. I just loved this period in gaming as it was incredibly charming. Also I remember playing the land of chocolate level, but cant remember which Simpsons game it was. Think it was on the ps2 but I’m not sure
@Palalubong You are right, this was a great time for gaming, I do think about looking at some Gameboy games from time to time for the channel. I can imagine the Krusty game is perfect for that platform.
I played Bart vs. The Space Mutants but on the Amiga. I never got that far but i liked it anyway. I played a lot of Escape from Camp Deadly on the Game Boy which was one of the first games i ever completed. I never understood why so many consider it such a bad game.
On Virtual Bart with the water slide there's little arrows that come up at the top telling you which side to go down so you don't get blocked. It was often quite late it would come up though but that's what you needed to do until you got to the end, also collect the clocks to give you more time, it was pretty good!! 😊🙏🏼
Great video and great topic. I own Barts nightmare. I fell in love with the game as a kid. The mini games are fun. Especially Bart man level. What hurts it is that it's too difficult and the overworld quality and difficulty makes it hard to enjoy.

I had Bart’s Nightmare. It was, indeed, deeply unnerving. I remember the sound design being especially eerie. I can’t remember all the levels, but there was Homer as King Kong, climbing the Empire State, which I loved. Struggling to think of more but it’s fun to be reminded, and I would love to play it again one day!
That's really interesting to read. I went into this one blind, I didn't look it up or watch any playthroughs. It's a very intriguing concept for a game so I'll maybe look at some videos of it. Homer climbing the Empire State Building sounds very familiar to me, I wonder if I have seen it before and forgotten or they used that idea in an episode... Thanks for sharing!
@@danthegamingmanYT I am remembering more now! I think you actually played as Bart climbing it, and you had to dodge people throwing things from windows, and Homer Kong was at the top. It’s over 30 years ago but it’s fun trying to remember it all! Do post more if you end up playing it through.
Most Simpson's video games were frustratingly hard but I tolerated them back then because I was a fan of The Simpson's. Of these games, I played Virtual Bart and Bart's Nightmare on the Genesis (I liked Virtual Bart a lot more than Bart's Nightmare, which was a nightmare). I also played Bart vs. the Space Mutants on the Game Gear and never got past the first level, and I once rented Krusty's Fun House on the NES and could not get past the very beginning.
I played Bart vs the Space Mutants on NES and have it on Game Gear. I quite like it, but i did grow up playing it and since back then you were just forced to play what you had you tend to get good at even bad games to the point of enjoying them. Vs Space Mutants is my favorite Simpsons game because of this. I also had Barts Nightmare on SNES. In Nightmare you have to find homework papers and jump on them select a door and play through a mini game to actually collect your homework. I enjoy this one too. Agree with you that the visuals are cool in this one.
As a kid, I only played Space Mutants so was fun to give all these other games a go. I'd have loved them back then, something charming about all them to be honest, they all match the zaniness of the 90s Simpsons for sure!
I used to play Barts nightmare and Virtual Bart for SNES. Difficult games. I wouldn’t mind if a Simpsons collection was made and even see Virtual Bart and Barts nightmare remade in one game with polishing controls and updated graphics.
A Simpsons collection is a great idea. I can see from the amount of comments on this video, that there is definitely a lot of love for these games, so they should consider packaging them all together in a collection for sure!
Bart Vs the Space Mutants was so hard. I had it on the Amiga and couldn't get past the end of level 3. I'm not good at games anyway, but this one broke me.
I have read that The Itchy and Scratchy game was never offically released for Sega but I memories of renting it from the video store a few times, although I did have a snes at one point but much later. I started thinking the internet was gas lighting me.
So in Barts nightmare you were on the over world. You need to collect the pages of his homework which fly past every so often. Each one will bring you into choice between two mini games. Theres about 5 or 6 different levels some that have 2nd levels. Its a hard game. I don't remember getting more than 2/3 pages most play throughs
I had Bart vs the Space Mutants, Bart vs the World and Bart's Nightmare. I never got past the first level of Space Mutants (I was five and didn't know what to do to get all purple items changed). vs the World was fun and I loved the skateboarding on the Great Wall section. Bart's Nightmare? Absolutely no clue what to do - keep moving across the street to avoid people/items and then enter levels and dying quickly. So confusing!
For me Space Mutants was the only game I was familiar with, and like you, had a hard time with the opening level back then. Bart's Nightmare is very confusing but a few commenters have told me I needed to collect the homework pages to enter the levels, many of which are supposed to be good fun... I still think Space Mutants had a solid first level - some great nods to the show (the phone call to Moe for example), and it was more puzzle based than straight up platforming. Because that second level in the Mall... yowza that was a nightmare. Especially the NES version which maps run and jump to the same button (and that works as well as you'd expect). I feel like Im one of the few that liked Bart's Nightmare, but it took a lot of learning to get half good at it (basically just about getting a passing grade to finish the game). You have certain levels like the ones with the germs, Itchy and Scratchy, Bartman, and Bart as Godzilla that I could actually do - though certain bits can be super tough - like certain midbosses in Bartman's stage that KO you in one hit... But then you have the Temple of Maggie mission which I just cant do despite trying many a times! Is it good? Objectively no, but I still have fond memories of it.
